Lantern Lake

Game:

Fossil Fighters: Frontier

Lantern Lake is the fourth unlockable Dig Site in Fossil Fighters: Frontier and the second unlockable location in Fossil Park Asia. It is an enclosed mountainous region with a chain of shallow lakes, tall rounded hills, and a partially fenced-in boardwalk. Paper lanterns hang in groups of three from poles on the boardwalk. The area features two Challenge Routes and five Service Stations. The Hero is granted access to Lantern Lake after saving Dr. Digmore.

Story Significance[edit | edit source]

The dig site is first available after Liu Ren assigns the Player and Nate to rescue Dr. Digmore whose Bone Buggy has broken down. When the two find the doctor he is being attack by vivosaurs and since he is relatively unskilled at fossil battles he is unable to fend them off. The Player and Nate defeat the rouge vivosaurs and use the part Liu Ren gave them to fix the Doctor's Buggy. The Player the returns to battle Mei Lian at Xuan Wu Peak with Nibbles as their vivosaur.

Later, the Player and Penny search the dig site to find an Ancient Eel Fossil to cure Nibbles of vivosauritis. Upon arriving at Chrysanth Plain the two discover a hyperactive Titano and Penny realizes that it must have eaten a part of the Eel Fossil and they must defeat it to find the fossil.

Challenge Routes[edit | edit source]

Lantern Lake features two Challenge Routes of low difficulty.

Willow Run (★)[edit | edit source]

Fossil Eaters: F-Raptor, Hypsi AU, Zino, Goyo

Willow Run is a one-star Challenge Route located in quadrant J10. It features a booster-studded race track that curves sharply around a shallow lake. At the end of the route is a gate (operated by a button just beyond it) for shutting Fossil Eaters out, making a battle in this Challenge Route unnecessary. Land-oriented Bone Buggies are well suited taking the race track, but off-road Buggies like the Turf Shredder can drive through the lake with the aid of the first booster to cut off the Fossil Eater with ease. Fossil Eaters in this route will run extremely fast to compensate for the boosters the player is provided with.

Lotus Way (★★★)[edit | edit source]

Fossil Eaters: Segno, Toba, Ptera JP, Sungari

Lotus Way is a three-star Challenge Route located in quadrant E5. It is a long course featuring an uphill ridge and a dead-end area with an excavator and two rocks. At the end of the ridge is a ramp that launches the player into an elevated, winding gorge. Three boulders are at the midpoint of the gorge. Smaller Bone Buggies can work them around with some effort, but larger Buggies are recommended for breaching the impasse. Just beyond the boulders is any one of the Vivosaurs found in the normal Dig Site, so players should exercise caution when turning to avoid engaging it.
