Drill

From Fossil Fighters Wiki
A Miraculous Fossil Rock being cleaned with the drill in Fossil Fighters: Champions

Drills are cleaning tools used to carve small amounts of rock away from fossils. They are less powerful, but more precise, than hammers and are best suited for working near exposed bone, on thin rock layers, and on fragile fossil rocks.

Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions[edit | edit source]

There are two drills in Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions: the standard drill, which the player obtains early in the main storyline, and the more powerful Super Drill, which can be purchased at the Fossil Guild for 25,000G. The Super Drill has the same radius as the standard drill but destroys material more quickly. When purchased, it is considered an additional cleaning tool and does not replace the standard drill; players can freely switch between drills while cleaning.

Using a drill generates dust on the cleaning area, obscuring the player's view of the fossil rock. This dust can be cleared by blowing into the microphone, holding the L and R buttons simultaneously, double-tapping either the L or R button, or tapping outside the cleaning area with a hammer. Drills cannot break through the outer layer of dark fossil rocks, regardless of how durable the rock is; a hammer must be used instead.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier[edit | edit source]

A Digger's Rig equipped with two drills

In Fossil Fighters: Frontier, there are ten distinct drills: five standard drills with increasing power levels (Mini Drill, Light Drill, Twin Drill, Triple Drill, and Ultra Drill), and five EX drills with equal power to, but lighter weight than, their standard counterparts (Mini Drill EX, Light Drill EX, Twin Drill EX, Triple Drill EX, and Ultra Drill EX). All standard drills except the Mini Drill, which is provided to the player early in the main storyline, can be purchased from the Garage once they are unlocked, usually following major story events. The EX drills are given to the player as rewards for winning the 1★-5★ Ameghino Cup tournaments in the Seven Scramble.

The player can equip any combination of drills to their Bone Buggy by visiting the Garage. Each drill occupies a single tool socket, and the player can bring as many tools with them as their Bone Buggy has sockets.

While using a drill in Fossil Fighters: Frontier does generate dust, it does not remain on the excavation area or need to be cleared by the player.
