Hammer

Hammers are cleaning tools used to break large chunks of rock away from fossils. They are more powerful, but less precise, than drills, and are best suited for breaking away a fossil rock's outer layers.

Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions[edit | edit source]

There are two hammers in Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions: the standard hammer, which the player obtains early in the main storyline, and the more powerful Hyper Hammer, which can be purchased at the Fossil Guild for 25,000G. The Hyper Hammer has a larger radius and a deeper impact than the standard hammer. When purchased, it is considered an additional cleaning tool and does not replace the standard hammer; players can freely switch between hammers while cleaning.

Hammers have multiple abilities in the cleaning environment. Players can tap outside the cleaning area with a hammer to clear any dust generated by use of a drill. Additionally, hammers are the only tools capable of breaking through the outer layer of dark fossil rocks. In Fossil Fighters: Champions, hammers can be used to perform buster breaks, cleanly and quickly clearing away large chunks of rock.

Fossil Fighters: Frontier[edit | edit source]

In Fossil Fighters: Frontier, there are ten distinct hammers: five standard hammers with increasing power levels (Mini Hammer, Light Hammer, Medium Hammer, Mega Hammer, and Hyper Hammer), and five EX hammers with equal power to, but lighter weight than, their standard counterparts (Mini Hammer EX, Light Hammer EX, Medium Hammer EX, Mega Hammer EX, and Hyper Hammer EX). All standard hammers except the Mini Hammer, which is provided to the player early in the main storyline, can be purchased from the Garage once they are unlocked, usually following major story events. The EX hammers are given to the player as rewards for winning the 1★-5★ Ostrom Cup tournaments in the Seven Scramble.

The player can equip any combination of hammers to their Bone Buggy by visiting the Garage. Each hammer occupies a single tool socket, and the player can bring as many tools with them as their Bone Buggy has sockets.

Hammers can be used in tandem with chisels to quickly break away large chunks of rock. Once chisels are inserted into the area surrounding a fossil, a hammer can be used to drive each chisel deeper into the rock until it fractures. Driving chisels too deep may cause damage to the fossil, however.
