Paleo Pals are characters in Fossil Fighters: Frontier who dig and battle alongside the Hero. Each character has a customized Bone Buggy with three to four Support Shot types, two vivosaurs to use in battle, and a rank and digging level. Up to two Paleo Pals can be chosen to accompany the Hero at one time, but they can be freely interchanged at the Garage and Fossil Stadium.
Paleo Pals' actions in battle cannot be controlled, though the player can select which vivosaur they use and what skills it has. The characters' ranks determine how much FP they gain at the start of their turns. Paleo Pals' Support Shots automatically refill after each battle, even during tournaments, but they are not unlimited and can be fully depleted in a single battle.
Paleo Pals can also clean previously excavated fossils for the player when asked to. Each character's digging level determines how high they can score on fossils. Cleaning will always be done by the character with the higher digging level.
Paleo Pals are initially only able to use one vivosaur in battle. Once the main storyline has been completed, the Hero can take on a quest for each character to become Super Paleo Pals with them and unlock their second vivosaur.
